Bey Çimento Unveils Two New Factory Investments

Soner Özbey, well known for her recent ventures in Turkey’s cement industry, has announced plans to establish two additional large-scale cement factories to expand Bey Çimento’s production footprint.

Following negotiations in Shanghai with China’s largest cement manufacturing partner, Bey Çimento has signed agreements to build two new facilities in the Tekirdağ and İzmir regions, each with an annual clinker-and-cement capacity of 800,000 tons.

Soner Özbey first gained industry recognition by founding a cement-grinding and packaging plant in Bandırma and acquiring a 51% stake in Karçimsa Çimento in Karabük. She later also expanded into İzmir’s Aliağa district, solidifying her reputation as a strategic investor in Turkey’s cement sector.

Despite challenging economic conditions and a general slowdown in industrial investments, Özbey is committing over USD 100 million to these two new plants. Once operational in 2025, Bey Çimento’s total annual capacity is expected to exceed 3 million tons, positioning the company among Turkey’s leading cement producers.

Both new facilities will be built in line with the European Green Deal, employing advanced, zero-carbon technologies to manufacture “Green Cement.”

This shift toward sustainable production reflects a larger global trend: traditional, high-emission cement and steel plants are nearing the end of their lifecycle and being replaced by next-generation, eco-friendly facilities. Bey Çimento’s investment marks a significant step forward in aligning Turkey’s cement industry with international environmental goals.
